14 Jul 4 Upgrades to Make to Your Ruger American Rimfire or Ruger Precision Rimfire Rifle
The Ruger American Rimfire series was an instant hit when it was released a few years ago. It immediately made lists of “top value” rimfire rifles for its clean design, accuracy, affordability, and of course, innovative features.
The Ruger American Rimfire, among other things, features a unique bedding system that free-floats the barrel, sports cold hammer-forged rifling, a target crown, a dovetail rail, iron sights (with an adjustable rear sight that folds down to accommodate optics), and much more. It even comes with two stock combs.
But, like so many other popular rifles, it’s still a blank slate from the factory.

Replace Your Ruger Bolt Handle
The Ruger American Rimfire features a 60° bolt throw that allows the action to be easily cycled without interfering with optics; these rifles also feature a unique bolt release that allows the bolt to be removed without pulling the trigger.
In other words, these rifles, like Ruger’s Precisions Rifles and American Rifles, are engineered for straightforward operation, and are shooter friendly.
But if you want to up the shooter friendliness even more, replace the Ruger bolt handle.

The RAR comes from the factory with a Ruger Marksman Adjustable trigger, that is adjustable between 3 and 5 pounds.

It is a self-contained, drop-in-ready trigger that can be used to make an easy, at-home upgrade to your RAR.
Housed in extremely durable, anodized 6061-T6 aluminum, this trigger assembly is set at a crisp 3 pounds but is adjustable from 1.5 to 4.
This smooth, crisp trigger is CNC machined, and then sear the unit contains is EDM cut and Teflon coated for maximum dry lubricity.
For precision shooters that need a trigger that can be adjusted down even to an even lighter trigger pull than the factory trigger allows, all the way down to 1.5 pounds, the Timney RAR Trigger is the upgrade to make. Long-range shooters, especially, might find the lighter trigger pull beneficial.
Ruger American Rimfire Long-Range Target Scope Base
If your RAR is the Long-Range Target model, one of the most impactful upgrades you can make is the addition of a target scope base like this one.
These scope bases are made from aluminum, available in either 15 or 30 MOA configurations, and come with built-in (but removable) bubble levels.
First, why the bubble level? It was an easy addition for us to make and is a very shooter-friendly feature.
The reason it’s there is to give you the ability – at a glance – to see if you’re shooting on a cant. Even if your rifle is canted very slightly, it can have a big impact on grouping downrange, especially at extended ranges. You might not notice the effects at close ranges, but that’s why we specifically developed this scope base for the RAR Long-Range Target Rifle.
We offer this scope base in two different MOA configurations to give long-range shooters an edge. Generally speaking, you’ll want the higher MOA scope base the greater the distance at which you shoot.
Raise the Comb Height with a Cheek Pad
